Range Tee overseeding and Closure. Early morning mowing

This past Monday the Bermuda grass driving range tees were slit seeded with Rye grass seed and fertilized.  As the weather turns colder, the bermuda grass becomes dormant and will not actively grow until late next spring.    In order to have a decent stand of turf in the spring and fall, the tees are slit seeded with ryegrass. The ryegrass will fill in and support continual useage.  Both range tees will be closed down by November 1st with play on the mats for the rest of the year.

With days becoming shorter, it becomes more challening to prepare the course ahead of an early morning event.  These pics were taken the morning of the Stampede Stakes.  It wasn't too bad mowing towards the Clubhouse but you can see how dark it is by the memorial clock.  Some of the equipment has lights and the grounds crew tries their best to get everything done without crashing into anything in the dark...
